<br />It depends on the region, but the Mississippi-Missouri is probably the most important. It is the longest and carries the most water.  It is especially important for carrying agricultural and industrial products.</p>
<p>Other important river systems include the St.Lawrence (and Great Lakes), Colorado, Columbia, and Rio Grande.  These are the largest, and used largely for navigation, irrigation, public water supply, fishing, hydroelectricity, etc.</p>
<p>The Potomac could also be considered because Washington, D.C. is located on this river.</p>
