Dick Fowler was our tour guide today and demonstrated a Pelton wheel and system that he built, using the hoist motor from the old Sunnyside Mine in Silverton. Motors and Generators have a lot in common and can be made to serve as either. The one shown here is small compared to the huge Pelton wheel in their main system. Go up toward box canyon and then circle down and around until you are on the west side of the river. Follow the pipe or follow the transmission lines. You might get lucky and get someone to show you around. The place is pretty much open in the summer.
