It's a drainage basin.

It can also be called a catchment basin, water basin, river basin, watershed or drainage system.
References :
Here is only an attempt to grasp the meaning of the task.

In #1 you pick 2 evens from US history not at random, but since they will be in the same slide-show, somehow related. You will essentially pick 3 things here - Event 1, Event 2 and Theme connecting Event 1 to event 2. Columbus voyage and Ford's assembly lines will be an unlikely choice - no connection, no common theme.

But you could pick Wilson re-elected President, US entering WWI as events and US Participation in WWI as a theme.

Alternatively, you could pick Wilson re-elected President, US entering WWI as events and Suppression of Civil Liberties in US during that time.

Question #3 is asking you to see that chosen theme affects your presentation greatly, because with "US Participation in WWI" your presentation will be about international politics, drafts, fighting in Europe and victory, while with the "Suppression of Civil Liberties in US" your presentation would be about progressivism, socialism, Bill of Rights and arrests for criticizing government.

Two very different presentations about the same 2 events.

Similar with 2 world history events.
References :
The problem is that an underground aquifer generally has a fixed size, and more water cannot be made to flow through it than it has capacity for. A river can simply overflow its banks; an aquifer doesn't have banks. If it is true that the water is going underground, that will be because we are drawing more out of the aquifer than its capacity.

Underground rivers are not rivers in the sense that we know about surface rivers. Absent some kind of cave system, they are water flowing through porous rock between non-porous layers, at rates much slower than a surface river, and therefore taking longer to replenish as well. Water entering such a system may well spend tens of years below ground before finding its way out.
References :
Believe it or not, humans are not the reason that there are so many natural disasters. For one thing, Jesus foretold that there would be "earthquakes in one place after another" as told at Matthew 24:7,8. He also said at Luke 21:31 "When you see these things, know that the kingdom of God is near." Have we not seen many earthquakes and other natural disasters happening all over the world? We can truly believe in Jesus words. Also, we can see another reason why this was foretold. 1John 5:19 says "the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one." Because Satan is ruling the world and God is not, we see why there is so much chaos. Please read the article "Natural Disasters Punishment from God? at www.jw.org.
References :
New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures
