    It is difficult to describe in detail…folks claiming the Continental Divide only have it partially correct. North of Montana, and south of Colorado, the Continental Divide is not the western edge of the Mississippi watershed.

    As you can see, the western edge leaves the Continental Divide in southern Colorado, then goes to the southeast across northeastern New Mexico, northern Texas, and finally into western Louisiana.
