When a river bends and curves, erosion and deposition happen in different places.
You understand that erosion means that the bank wears away and the river eats into that bank. Deposition means that silt or sand accumulates in that area, and the bank builds up on that side. Over time the river’s bends and curves become more pronounced. The river becomes quite winding and curved.
Erosion happens where the water is fast. This is on the OUTSIDE curves.
Deposition happens where the water is slow. This is on the INSIDE curves.
