How exactly would you explain a river system?

How exactly would you explain a river system? Like a really really good definition would help alot, or a website about river systems or even a stream system….

Is that where the rain falls within the watershed and sinks into the hills’ soil and makes it’s way into the tributaries and then into the main river before being swept into the seas to be evaporated by the sun and into clouds and as rain etc

    Rivers are the watershed drain for their particular area into where all the rain and underground water sources flow eventually to the sea.
