While not as well known as other river systems in Western Oregon, the 60-mile-long South Santiam River system contains at least a dozen accessible waterfalls. From its source at Iron Mountain and Tombstone Pass to its terminus near Albany, the river cuts a deep canyon, leaving side streams hanging, forming beautiful waterfalls, such as the highest, Cascadia State Park’s Lower Soda Falls at 160′.
