WHERE WE ARE AT

DRAG is an organisation of non-political members, the following gives an idea of what we have already done to work toward our aims, the immediate events and where we are headed.

  • The organisation was started in early 2004 by a passionate group of locals who decide it was time to stand up and say ‘enough is enough”.
  • Some informal gatherings lead to the establishment of the Darling River Action Group, now an incorporated body.
  • The committee has been established and involves a large cross section of the community.
  • Our first major objective was to lobby the construction of a pipe line along the length of the Great Darling Anabranch with the aim to halt this construction allowing from  more opportunity for environmental and social considerations to be understood.
  • A delegation has been sent to the cotton growing area of Bourke in northern NSW to better understand the ways in which water is been utilised.
